A clear sky blue, soft toward the edges and deepening at the center, where a small cloud of darker blue gathers in fine speckles. Paler drifts move across the face like breath on glass, and tiny tan flecks of host rock are scattered through it, a few gathered near the top. The polish is high and glassy over a gentle dome on a long, clean oval. Seen from the side, a brown backing lies beneath the blue.
Kingman turquoise, from Mohave County, Arizona. Kingman has been worked for well over a thousand years and is known above all for its sky blue, the color this stone carries.
High-grade Kingman turquoise, stabilized and backed, ready for a silversmith to set.
Its long oval would sit well in a pendant or a bold ring.
